Born the middle child of nine children growing up on the island of Trinidad and Tobago, LeeAnn Alexander sought refuge in the world of pencil and paint.

Winning an award a few years later for her art, while attending junior high, provided LeeAnn further incentive to continue as she worked mostly with pencil and still life.

LeeAnn taught herself to draw portraits and took a drawing and photography class at Kingsborough Community College, while studying Mental Health. Through photography, she found she was able to capture the kind of detail for which she was searching. 'Faces say so much. They reveal past experiences, narrate the here and now and predict future events. Faces express deep feelings of pleasure, sorrow, forlorn, distraught and anger.'

LeeAnn's current body of work consists of digital manipulations of personal photographs, drawings, and paintings, which she blends together in her own unique way, that in the end, results in a true one-of-a-kind creation.
